Rebranding Rock Werchter, Belgium’s biggest festival
Amsterdam-based branding and digital design studio TIN has developed Rock Werchter’s new brand identity. TIN worked with the iconic Belgian festival for a year and now that the first headliners are known, the story can go public. TIN developed a festive and energetic style that would also resonate with younger music fans.
Rock Werchter
A 4-day festival with 88,000 visitors per day makes Rock Werchter a true Belgian icon. It is known for its strong line-up featuring the world’s best-known headliners, mesmerising singer-songwriters, raucous hip-hop and emerging talent. The next edition is from 29 June to 2 July and will again transform the small Belgian village of Werchter into an energetic and festive festival site.
History
At the initiative of a small group of music lovers, with the attendance of only a thousand visitors, the first edition took place in 1975. 47 years later, the festival has grown tremendously and is attended annually by a loyal community of several generations who together contribute to the convivial and intimate atmosphere.
The rebranding
TIN created a brand identity that feels familiar to returning visitors while challenging a new generation of music lovers. With a nod to Rock Werchter’s rich music history and heritage, a modern and energetic layout system and font was developed to represent the incredible variety of music at the festival.
